Age: Attraction Review:

ages 2-4: The dark environments throughout and loud sound can frighten young children. There is also a small drop (more for speed than for a plunging sensation) that may be too intense for young children.

ages 5-10: While a few kids are frightened by the skeletons and the small sudden drop at the beginning, most count the ride among their favorites in the park.

ages 11-15: Teens who’ve watched the movies will especially appreciate seeing the original ride that inspired them.

ages 16-adult: The high amount of detail and impressive show effects makes this one of the highlights of Walt Disney World.

senior citizens: Some seniors may not appreciate the small drop at the beginning. The drop is quite small though and is more for the sake of a speed adjustment than to provide a thrilling sensation. Most seniors highly enjoy this ride.

Disney Tip

Even though Pirates of the Caribbean is a very popular attraction, the ride is extremely efficient and moves guests through, and usually has shorter lines than the other big attractions. Even so, it’s best to avoid between 11 am and 4 pm if you want the shortest lines.

Disney Facts

This attraction inspired the blockbuster movies, which in turn inspired Disney designers to add the movie characters to the attraction.

The writers of Yo Ho (A Pirates Life for Me) also wrote Grim Grinning Ghosts at the Haunted Mansion.

Many of the pirate faces in the ride are based by the creative designers, who thought it funny to picture themselves in such mischief.
