National Peach Cobbler Day is a day that recognizes this delightful dish every year on April 13th. Peach cobbler originally came from settlers who lacked ingredients. Unable to make traditional sweets like suet and puddings, settlers stewed peaches and used them to fill uncooked biscuits and dumplings. The finished treat looked like a cobbled street.
The name also comes from the ingredients being “cobbled” together. Some recipes have crusts that are thicker than others, with pie crusts used as the top and bottom crust.
