Tips for going to Disney World With Small Children

If you are traveling to Disney World with small children it is wise to plan your days before you come. All too often we see parents of small children trying to cram everything into their Disney vacation in the first few days, and by the third day of their trip, the kids are cranky and not having too much fun. Here are a few tips so that your family can make the most out of your Orlando vacation.

Nap Time

Even though you are on vacation, your children still need naps. Take the time to go back to your hotel or vacation home and put your child down so they can get the rest they need to enjoy this magical time. Kids can take a quick nap in a stroller, just make sure they are positioned comfortably and are in a cool place out of the heat. Their nap can mean a snack break for you!

Base Tickets

The best ticket option for families with small children is the Disney World base tickets. Even though this means you can visit one park per day, you will not have to worry about overwhelming your child by hopping to different parks. If you are like most families and you have older children spread out in ages, the hopper option may be a better fit. Letting your teens jump to different parks to hit up the highlights is a great way for them to spend their energy, while you can take it easy with the small child.

Plan Your Day

Disney World is made up of 4 different parks: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot. Many have easily lost track of which rides are where so make sure you do your research before heading to the park. Write down and make a plan for the attractions you want to see. If you don’t get to everything on your list, you can always extend your stay!

Pick the Right Hotel

When deciding on a hotel, you might want to look for hotels that offer: children's eat free programs, swimming pools, and playgrounds. Many of the hotels around Disney World offer these amenities free of charge. You might also want to check with the hotel beforehand to see if they offer children’s night care services. This may give you and your spouse a 2 or 3 hour break one night to enjoy many of Orlando's top restaurants.

Take A Day Off

If you are staying for 5 days or longer you might want to take a day off from the theme parks altogether. This will give you and your child the opportunity to recharge and be ready for the next day. Not many people know it but Orlando has many great name-brand outlet shops as well as other theme parks and local attractions. So there will be plenty of choices to choose from if you decide to take the day off. Booking a vacation homes near Disney World is perfect for this as many homes have private pools.
