Visiting Universal Islands of Adventure in December

 There’s lots of talk about what to do on a Disney vacation in December, but what about visiting Islands of Adventure or other Universal parks? There are actually quite a few special events, many of which are included in the cost of your Universal Studios tickets. Check out some of our most anticipated events and book your trip today.

Celebrate with Harry Potter at both Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure

Take a trip to Universal Studios Florida and see Diagon Alley and London both transformed for the holidays. You can enjoy festive décor and incredible lighting that changes the look and feel of this already stunning location. Save room for holiday treats and special drinks, and make sure the kids are prepared for the exciting atmosphere. There are lots of shows to enjoy too, including buskers at the King’s Cross Station, and a special show with Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees.

Universal Islands of Adventure is home to Hogsmeade, which has its own unique celebrations. First, you’ll notice that the shops are all festively decorated in garland. Then you’ll enjoy a unique show from the Frog Choir, prepared specifically for the season. This park will have its own special season treats, and will project a stunning display called the Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts all over the castle.

Celebrate Grinch-style at the Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular

Stop by Seuss Landing in Universal Islands of Adventure to see the entire area decorated with incredible holiday charm – which is of course specifically not approved by Dr. Seuss’s original bah humbug, the Grinch. The Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular is a live retelling of the classic kids book, complemented with music recorded by Christmas music experts Mannheim Steamroller.

You can also meet the Grinch himself in Seuss Landing. Get your picture taken with him, ask for an autograph, and tell him what you think about his views on Christmas.

Do you need more time with the Grinch? Consider the The Grinch & Friends Character Breakfast

If a simple photo and autograph isn’t enough, consider the Grinch & Friends Character Breakfast. This isn’t included in your Universal Studios Orlando tickets but many consider it to be well worth the added cost. You can expect a morning meal that comes with a unique blend of mischief. You’ll start off by choosing from a wide range of buffet selections.

As you eat, the Grinch will make the rounds and stop at each table for a photo. Just make sure you’re keeping your eyes open – he’s been known to steal bacon once in a while! Also note that reservations are required for this event, and you’ll also need to pay for Universal Studios tickets to gain access to the restaurant.

The breakfast takes place in Universal Islands of Adventure at Circus McGurkus Café Stoo-pendous. It doesn’t happen every day but so far the schedule for December is as follows: December 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25. It runs from 8 AM until 10 AM and costs $34.99 for adults and $20.99 for children.

Bring in 2018 in style at CityWalk

If you’re planning to visit Orlando over the New Year, consider the unique nighttime spectacular at Universal’s CityWalk. It’s a ticketed event that’s only open to those who are at least 21 years old. With your ticket, $98.99 in advance or $109.99 on the day of the event, you get unlimited gourmet food, an enormous dance floor, access to six clubs in CityWalk, a champagne toast at midnight, and pyrotechnics display. Note that with the base ticket, beverages aren’t included – with the exception of the champagne toast.

If nothing but the best will do for you, then you may want the VIP experience. It costs $166.49 in advance or $184.99 at the door and includes everything listed above in addition to private areas throughout CityWalk, two free VIP drinks in VIP bar areas, exclusive food, a dedicated entrance, and access to private bars and balconies.
