Universal’s New Epic Universe Set to Open Summer 2025
Universal Studios is already one of the most popular destinations for theme park packages Orlando, yet the entertainment giant seems keen on expanding and improving its current offerings well into the future.
For some time now, we’ve known that the park was gearing up to begin development on its latest area: Epic Universe. Set to be the biggest Universal park in the United States, Epic Universe is likely to become one of the most popular Florida theme park packages based on this description alone.
So, when will guests finally have the opportunity to enjoy Epic Universe for themselves, and what can they expect from the experience? Keep reading to learn everything we know so far.
What is Epic Universe?
Epic Universe will be a massive entertainment area located behind Universal’s ICON Park, right at the start of its southern campus and spanning an area of 750 acres. Much like Universal Studios, it will be home to four themed “lands” inspired by different franchises and characters.
Currently, we only have confirmation for what one of the lands will be: Super Nintendo World. This area already graced Universal Studios in Japan back in 2021 and is also slated to open at the Hollywood location sometime within the next two years.
Though time will only tell what the remaining lands will offer, there’s a good chance they’ll be related to some of the company’s many popular DreamWorks Animation and Illumination franchises.
What Attractions Will be at Epic Universe?
Since Super Nintendo World has already launched in Japan, some of its attractions are likely to be carried over to the Orlando location — but don’t be surprised if we get one or two exclusives.
A few Nintendo rides we hope we’ll get to experience with Universal Orlando’s Florida theme park packages include:
- Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge: This exhilarating attraction sends guests through iconic Mario Kart courses on a race towards victory.
- Yoshi’s Adventure: Riding in a Yoshi cart, guests will traverse Mushroom Kingdom on a treasure hunt in search for Captain Toad.
- Power-Up Band Key Challenges: Using their Power-Up bands, guests can partake in interactive games placed throughout Super Nintendo World to face off against Bowser Jr.
