January 2018 at Universal Orlando

January 2018 is posed to be one of the most exciting months in the history of Universal Orlando. Not only do they have a special Harry Potter event happening at the end of the month, but Christmas decorations, shows, and events run through the first week of January. Read on to learn more and then get excited about visiting the parks.



Enjoy Christmas in Universal Studios through January 7^th

You don’t have to give up your own holiday celebrations at home to enjoy Christmas at Universal Orlando. Instead, head out to the parks in January through the seventh to take advantage of some amazing experiences. For example, when you go to Universal Studios, you’ll find buildings strung with Christmas lights and decorations everywhere.

Check out the Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s

Universal’s Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s also runs through January 7^th. You can meet Santa and enjoy a truly original incarnation of the famous Macy’s parade. This family favorite floats down Universal Studios’ streets and includes Minions in winter sweaters, Shrek and his friends, characters from Madagascar, and many other special surprises.

The Grinchmas experience is still around

Head over to Universal’s Islands of Adventure to see the Grinch himself dressed up in his favorite Santa attire during the Who-liday Spectacular. Then take some time to walk through Seuss landing to see the Christmas charm that’s been added. You’ll find a live retelling of the classic story that stars the Grinch, as well as get an opportunity to meet him personally and get a photo and signature from him. Grinchmas continue through January 7^th.

You can also check out the Grinch & Friends Character Breakfast. It takes place at Circus McGurkus Café Stoopendous in Islands of Adventure. This goes on throughout the entire month and gives you the chance to meet and get an autograph from the Grinch. Be prepared to make snarky small talk! This event requires a ticket and includes your choice of several delicious entrees.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a sight not to be missed

Harry Potter fans who are excited about visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be extra excited to discover that their special Christmas attractions also last through January 7^th. Walk down the streets of London and see Christmas lights twinkling through the windows and throughout the trees. Go down Diagon Alley to see some brilliant décor and festive lighting.

You can also enjoy holiday foods and drinks only available during the holiday months. Head to King’s Cross Station to enjoy buskers singing holiday songs. Are you a fan of the Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees? Then you’ll love that they have a special show just for the holidays.

And don’t forget the icing on the cake: Hogwarts will be lit up with Christmas lights that bring a tear to many fans’ eyes. The shops in Hogsmeade are decorated with garland. The Frog Choir has its own special show prepared. The castle is wrapped in a stunning projection show called The Magic of Christmas, which many people describe as the best part of their January trip to Universal Orlando.

Be there for the three-day Harry Potter event of the year

Though many of the most unique events at Universal Orlando are taking part at the beginning of the month, those who’ll be traveling later in the month have something truly special to be excited about. Universal Orlando has paired up with Warner Brothers for a Harry Potter fan festival unlike any other.

There will be a lot to get excited about at this event, including a question and answer session with the actors who played Viktor Krum, Fred Weasley, and George Weasley. There will be a host of other things happening at the event, including special panels, demonstrations, and a lot of surprises. This is shaping up to be an experience worth seeing – and it’s all included in Universal Studios Orlando tickets for the day.
