4 Things to Check One Month Before Your Trip to Disney World

As the parent of young kids, you need to be even more on the ball than other guests visiting Disney World. Though you’ve likely been planning since you first booked your trip, here are four things to look at a month before you travel.

1.         Buy your theme park tickets

Don’t make one of the most costly mistakes you can make – don’t wait until you get to the parks to buy your tickets! Instead, buy discount theme park tickets at least a month before you travel. Why a month? Because at 30 days out you can make your FastPass+ reservations. You simply log on to your My Disney Experience account and then choose which rides you know you’ll want to ride. You’ll then have a reservation of sorts that lets you ride the ride within an hour period that you choose – without the wait! You can schedule three FastPass+ reservations per day, but keep in mind that they must be in the same park.

2.         Check the crowds – again!

You’ve likely already checked the crowd estimates before you get to the one month point, but when you get this close you should check again. Remember that the online crowd calendars you’ll find are based on two things: last year’s crowds and recent crowds. When you get to a month out, they should be updating their estimates based on the most previous weeks.

3.         Find out which attractions are closed

No matter what time of year you’re visiting Disney World, it’s likely that there will be at least one or two attractions closed for refurbishment or repair – and the number is likely to be higher during less busy times of year. Most refurbishments are put on the schedule up to six months in advance, but some get added at the last minute and dates change all the time. If you check a month before your trip you should have a good idea of what you can expect to be closed.

4.         Order groceries

If you’re staying in an Orlando vacation home with a full kitchen then you’ll want to make sure your kitchen is stocked with groceries. The easiest way to do that is to have groceries delivered right to you. Then you’ll know exactly what the cost will be and exactly what you’ll have – plus you save the time and hassle of finding the grocery store and doing your own shopping. Even if you’re staying in a resort hotel you’ll likely want to have a few things delivered, like bottled water, quick breakfast foods, and perhaps a few adult beverages to enjoy after you put the little ones to bed.
