10 Reasons to Visit Orlando This Summer

1. Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s newest attractions

Disney World has outdone themselves once again, with one of the biggest new attractions we’ve seen from them in decades. They’ve added an entirely new land to Animal Kingdom. It’s called "Pandora - The World of Avatar" and features two new rides, including Flight of Passage, which has been rated as one of their best rides of all time.

2. Universal Orlando’s newest park

Universal Orlando has added an entirely new park: Volcano Bay. There’s a lot to love about Orlando but it’s also true that the summers here can get very hot! Volcano Bay can take away some of that sweat with its wave pools, lazy river, and incredible water slides.

3. Exciting new restaurants opening everywhere

If you’re a foodie then now is the perfect time to visit Orlando. The above mentioned land of Pandora in Disney’s Animal Kingdom has opened a few interesting restaurants with truly unique food you won’t find in any of other Orlando theme parks. Master Chef Morimoto has opened a new restaurant in Disney Springs, and the Harry Potter-themed restaurants at Universal have gotten interesting menu upgrades.

4. SeaWorld has created a unique nighttime celebration 

SeaWorld Orlando has done something new too, with their Electric Ocean, a summer nighttime celebration. This festival includes lights, music, and lots of vibrant sea life. You can expect live performers, world-class DJs, and a firework and fountains spectacular that surpasses anything they’ve done before.

5. Magic Kingdom has a new firework display for the first time in many years

If you love fireworks then you’ll love what the Magic Kingdom is doing. While hardcore fans were initially disappointed to see the Wishes show end after many years, they were quickly won over by the truly spectacular Happily Ever After show that replaced it. Part fireworks show, part live entertainers show, and part visual light show, this is something not to be missed.

6. Animal Kingdom is open at night for the first time ever

Animal Kingdom used to close before or shortly after sundown but this summer they’re experimenting with something fun: Nighttime hours. In fact, the park is open until midnight many nights this summer. Not only can you enjoy many of the rides, but you can take off on a safari to see the nocturnal animals in their natural habitats. They also have a unique night show called Rivers of Light, which features lights and fine storytelling on the river.

7. There are great deals on Disney World vacation packages

8. The Epcot Food and Wine Festival is starting earlier than ever

The Epcot Food and Wine Festival, where you can taste large samples of foods and wines from around the world, has long been one of the most popular festivals in Epcot. Originally run for just a month in the low attendance fall months, they’ve been slowing extending the timeframe for years now. In 2017, it finally starts in August. If you’re planning a Walt Disney World vacation in late summer, this may be the time for you to visit.

9. Enjoy a day or two on the green

Most people associate a trip to Orlando with a Disney World vacation or a Universal Orlando vacation, but the reality is that there’s a ton going on here – including some of the best golf courses in the country.
