It’s a bright new day. Made brighter and more colorful by today’s celebration, National Crayon Day. It may sound silly to be celebrating something so simple, but crayons have a colorful past. This lovely artistic device has been around for centuries. The beloved coloring device as we know it got its start in the 1900s.
With such a long history, it’s no doubt that the crayon has a special place in our hearts and lives, not just with children but adults as well. Generations upon generations have grown up learning how to exercise their artistry with the beautiful array of colors. The bright wax has the power to delight and entrance most of our senses.

Binney and Smith
In 1903 Binney and Smith introduced the Crayola crayon pack. A standard eight-pack included: Black, Brown, Orange, Violet, Blue, Green, Red, and Yellow. This remained the same for forty-five years. Since then, several new colors expand the collection, including scented, glittery, metallic, neon and so much more.With such a long history, it’s no doubt that the crayon has a special place in our hearts and lives, not just with children but adults as well.
