Single Parents 101: How to Fly With Your Children
Avoid Check-In Lines
There’s no question that long lines and kids often equals disaster. This is even more true when you’re trying to wrangler your children and luggage at the same time. Fortunately, there are other solutions these days. You can typically check-in 24 hours before your flight and even have mobile alerts forwarded straight to your phone. This simple step can help you bypass long lines at the computer.
Don’t Discount Strollers
Even if your kids have been out of strollers for a few years, you may find them helpful both in the airport and at Disney World. When flying, they’re not counted as bags and can be checked at the gate. Remember that airports are incredibly crowded spaces and the last thing you want is to be chasing your kids down. A stroller keeps them in control at all times.Be Ready to Board First
Many airlines allow families with small children to board after First Class. Be at the gate, ready, and listening to the announcements so that you don’t miss the opportunity.
Ask For Help When You Need It
Flight attendants are there to help you, so if you need it – ask for it. For example, if you need to head to the restroom, it’s fine to ask the flight attendant to hang out in your section. The flight attendants can always say no, but typically they’ll be more than happy to – and your kiddo may even get an extra bag of pretzels. Please click here for more single parent vacation planning tips.
