Keeping Cool in the Orlando Theme Parks

Record summer temperatures means you'll need to work on avoiding the sun and the hottest part of the day when you visit the Orlando theme parks. You probably already know to avoid doing outdoor activities in the middle of the day if possible (unless a pool is involved), but here are a few other places to go and things to do to keep your cool in the theme parks:

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Shark Reef Cool off at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon.

Disney World:

Visit Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon and use the summer heat to your advantage. You can spend an entire day in the water park, then hit one of the big Disney theme parks in the evening when it cools down. Don't want to spend an entire day at the water park? Head to watery attractions like Kali River Rapids (Disney's Animal Kingdom) or  Splash Mountain (Magic Kingdom) -- or visit the indoor Disney Quest theme park to cool off.

Universal Orlando: Wet n Wild is one of the best water destinations you'll find in Orlando, and with the opening of the new kid's play area, it is now suitable for the whole family. Spend the hottest day of your vacation at Wet n Wild, or visit in the afternoon to cool off. Universal also offers water-y rides and attractions, including Jurassic Park and Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Water Rats, so schedule these for the hottest part of the day.

Sea World: Visit Aquatica for a splashing good time, and then head to Sea World and sit in Shamu's splash zone. Depending on where you are, you'll get a little wet -- or totally soaked. High speed rides like Manta or Kraken can help you cool off on a hot day -- or you can abandon the heat entirely to visit the cold weather animals stationed in the Wild Arctic.

Having a touring plan that allows you to cool off will keep you moving and enjoying your vacation on even the hottest summer days, so plan ahead and embrace the hot summer in Orlando!
