Hitting the Beaches: Where to Go From Orlando?
The Closest Beaches to Orlando
The closest beaches to the Orlando area are:- Cocoa beach
- Canaveral National Seashore
- Daytona Beach
Each is about an hour and a half drive. The best way to get to Cocoa Beach is to head out on Toll Road 528, you’ll get to Canaveral National Seashore via SR 50 east to US 1, and Daytona is best reached via Interstate 4 East. While the drive is about the same for all 3 beaches, you may decide to choose one based on the type of road you’ll be traveling during your adventure.
West Coast Beaches
Generally speaking, the beaches on the east coast are more bustling and populated, while the west coast is known for more tranquil beaches. You’ll also see much smaller waves on the west coast than the east. The most recommended beaches on this side of the state include:- St. Petersburg Beach
- Clearwater Beach
- Tarpon Springs
Each of these beaches is about 2 hours away and can be arrived at via Interstate 4. No matter which beach you choose, or which side of the state you decide on, there’s one thing you can count on: there’s always something new and exciting to do in central Florida.
