COVID Rules for Orlando Theme Parks

COVID Rules for Orlando Theme Parks
Orlando amusement parks have made some changes to health and safety rules or guidelines. This is due to the inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 that exists in public places where there are people. Many Orlando Themes Parks that were suddenly closed due to the March pandemic have now reopened. This includes the four Walt Disney Parks in Orlando, Florida and Universal Orlando Resorts.

However, new rules and changes apply in all areas. For example, requirements to cover your face unless you are riding water rides or eating, hand washing reminders, hand sanitizing stations and physical distancing throughout the property, and tying up chairs to separate guests.

Whether you've visited an Orlando theme park after COVID or are visiting for the first time since the pandemic began, here are some things to know before you hit the "happiest place in the world":

What are the COVID rules for the Universal Studios Orlando theme park?

  • • Increasing the sanitizing and cleaning of food places, ride vehicles & other common "touch points" in addition to our already aggressive cleaning methods.
  • • Social distancing in all places near the park, including attractions, shows, restaurants and merchandising locations
  • • Guests and team members must wear a face cover
  • • Guests and team members must undergo temperature tests. People with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or more cannot enter Universal CityWalk or amusement parks.
  • • Make the Virtual Line ™ experience available for specific attractions
  • • Provide contactless payments and a no-contact policy when possible
  • • Offset parking in multi-story car parks to create distance between tour groups
  • • Limit and reduce daily park visits and the number of attractions or ride riders at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure

Are you traveling to Walt Disney World, Orlando? The following are the rules for COVID that should be known:

  • • Keep a distance of at least three feet from other people. As elsewhere, Walt Disney World has added signs, floor markings and barriers to encourage social distancing. Similar measures apply to local transport, including buses, monorails and boats.
  • • All children 2 years and older should wear a face mask, except when eating / drinking (should be quiet) or swimming. The mask or face shield must consist of at least two layers of breathable material, adhere perfectly to the sides of the face and under the chin, be tied with cords or ear straps, and completely cover the nose and mouth.
  • • Parades, evening shows, and character greetings is temporarily modified. Disney World says this is to maintain physical distance. The playground can also be closed. Locker rooms in stores are closed and Disney PhotoPass photographers do not touch cell phones, cameras, tablets or other electronic devices.
  • • Before entering the amusement park, the temperature test is done with a non-contact thermometer. Temperature tests were also conducted at other locations at the Walt Disney World Resort Orlando, including Disney Springs and the table-service restaurants at Disney Resort Hotels. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 F or higher will undergo further testing. If you find that your temperature is 100.4 F or higher, entry will be refused and people in your group will not be able to attend.
