Anytime is a great time to
visit Orlando, but there are some really unique things about October that make it an especially great option. From some of the lowest prices on
hotels near Disney World that you’ll find all year, to lower crowds and better weather, check out just ten reasons that October is a fantastic time to
visit Orlando.
1. Halloween Horror Nights
If you like to be scared this event is for you. It is for mature audiences. it is a separately ticketed event that has become a worldwide phenomenon spawning Singapore, Osaka, and California's Universal parks to create their own. During HHN you can explore ten highly themed haunted houses, 5 scare zones, 2 live shows, and themed treats and drinks. Bring a friend to grab onto when you get scared.
2. Enjoy the parks with lower crowds
During the day the parks can be less busy. This is because especially with Magic Kingdom and Universal Studios there are Halloween events at night. people tend to stay at the hotel during the day to be rested for all the spooky fun at night. So, the parks can be more manageable during the day.
3. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
Magic Kingdom is turned into the funniest and not-so-scary event. This event is extremely popular and a separate ticketed party. It happens at night after the park is closed to day guests. families can dress up together, not just the kids. There are dance parties, food, live entertainment, a castle show, a parade, and spectacular fireworks.
4. Howl-o-Scream
This haunted event is newer to Orlando but just as scary. A spinoff of the Busch Garden's Tampa Halloween event, SeaWorld has taken on the mantle. There are 5 haunted houses, scare zones, live entertainment, food, drinks, and lots of interactions. It is a separately ticketed event and some people consider it scarier than HHN because of its newer grittiness.
5. The parks are gussied up for Halloween
One of the coolest things about visiting the theme parks around any holiday is that they are decorated with interesting, immersive, unique décor. This is doubly true of Halloween. Whether you’re a fan of ghoulish tricks and treats, or you like a sweet Mickey dressed up as a farmer, there’s something for every Halloween fan.
6. Spooktacular
If you have little ones and want to take them to a Halloween event that doesn't require an extra ticket, head to SeaWorld Orlando. there they have Spooktacular. this happens during the day on select days. It is included with your day ticket and everyone is encouraged to dress up and have fun. There are treat trails, character interactions, and even a special Halloween in Sesame Street Land with Elmo and friends.
7. Brick or Treat
Another great Halloween event for kids, that doesn't require an extra ticket is LEGOLAND Florida's Brick or treat. This is located in Winter Haven, which is less than an hour from Orlando. Here you can have the kids dress up and get candy in treat trails. They can take photos with their favorite minifigs dressed up as well. There are crafts and games and dance parties too
8. Weather
The sun is still out, but it is starting to get cooler. You may even need a sweater at night. this means you can stay in the parks longer without getting exhausted from the heat.
9. The International Food and Wine Festival
Foodies and/or wine connoisseurs won’t want to miss Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival. Throughout the World Showcase, there are dozens of booths set up, each representing a specific country. There you can try up to three different foods in sample sizes, and try a few adult drinks, whether mixed or wine.
10. Water parks are still open
Because the sun is still out, the water parks are too. The water tends to be heated in most places so head over to Typhoon Lagoon, Aquatica, or Volcano bay. There will be fewer crowds there as well.
