How to Navigate Disney World With Autism

How to Navigate Disney World With Autism

Disney For Kids With Autism at Disney World

Disney World needs no introduction. It is vacation heaven that is on almost everyone's bucket list. But if you or your loved ones have Autism, it might seem daunting and overwhelming to fulfill that dream. Visiting Disney for kids with autism can be made easier if you follow the tips below from our own personal experiences.

Therefore, in this article, we will tell how using Disney World's DAS(Disability Access Service) can come in handy when navigating the park with Autism.

Let us begin.

What is Disability Access Service(DAS)

DAS is a system at Walt Disney World created for special guests who find it uncomfortable to wait in long queues. This includes people with Autism and other cognitive or physical disabilities. This pass doesn't let guests cut lines and get to the front, but rather it allows them more flexibility in terms of waiting so that they enjoy the park without compromising their health.

How to Register for DAS: The Preferred Method

Guests with disabilities can pre-register for DAS Advance through a video chat with a cast member. Even though guests can register for DAS on-site, this is the preferred method as it saves guests a lot of hassle.

Guests can pre-register for DAS as soon as 30 days in advance but not less than two days before arrival. During the video chat, guests can book up to 2 one-hour return windows for specific experiences with the help of the DAS advance planning option.

Eligibility Criteria for a DAS Pass

The best thing about a DAS pass is that guests do not need to show their diagnosis to get this special pass. The cast members will not ask for proof of disability but only about the accommodations you'd be interested in depending upon your particular disability.

It is, however, necessary that the person with the disability is present to receive the pass as they will be photographed. It applies to both the video-chat pre-registration and the on-site registration at "guest relations."

Once you are registered for DAS, it will be added automatically to your My Disney Experience account. You will then be able to access this pass through the same app you use for dinner reservations or mobile orders. Your DAS pass will last throughout the length of your stay for up to 60 days.
