How Do I Get A Boarding Pass for Rise of the Resistance?

Of all the forces Disney had joined, none can be so exciting as joining the Star Wars franchise. Their bringing to life something with such a dedicated following, and then expanding on that by giving us nerds something to truly geek out about like the lifesize Millennium Falcon, has truly sparked something that even the dark side can get on board with.

Speaking of getting on board, while Disney's Hollywood Studios, Galaxy's Edge is incredible in every aspect, from its food, like Bantha milk and Ronto wraps, to its street wares shops (where you can purchase your own Jedi robe or lightsaber) to its rides (be a pilot in the Millenial Falcon, yes.. really!) Its most incredible ride requires a boarding pass. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is cutting edge in every way, and the first ride of its kind. It mixes thrills with video and audio effects to create a life-like simulation. You’ll join the resistance and battle the Dark side. 

Unfortunately, Rise of the Resistance is only available to ride by getting a boarding pass through the My Disney Experience app. Meaning, you’ll have to have a park reservation before you’re able to make a virtual reservation. This can be a great thing, with no long lines and no hot sun to wait in... however, the virtual queue fills up faster than Anakin’s pod can race, so as soon as you’ve secured your park tickets, make sure to head over to the My Disney Experience app and make your virtual line reservation. 

How do I get a boarding pass?

This is where it gets tricky. First you have to make sure that you have downloaded the My Disney Experience app and signed into your account. Next, there are 2 times when you can "request access" for the virtual queue, at 7 am and 1 pm. You may need to set an alarm to make sure 7 am or 1 pm doesn't slip on by. At the 7 am boarding time, you don't have to be in inside Hollywood Studios to request access. You can hang out at your Orlando hotel or vacation home as you wait to board. However, at 1 pm, you will need to be inside the park along with your whole party. Look for "Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance - Request Access with Virtual Queue" and follow the steps. If you are part of one of the boarding groups, depending on what boarding group number you get, plan accordingly. You can be waiting anywhere from 20 to 220 minutes to board. When your boarding group is called, you'll have a 1 hour window to get to the ride. You may have to wait an additional 30 to 45 minutes while cast members prepare groups to board. Finally, after jumping through all those hoops, you just sit back and enjoy the ride!

1. Get the My Disney Experience app
2. Set alarm for 6:55 am or 12:55 pm (maybe even multiple alarms)
3. Open app at 6:58 am to be ready, and/or at 12:58 pm and be inside park
4. 7 am and/or 1 pm, Request Access with Virtual Queue!
5. If you get a boarding pass, plan your day accordingly
6. Make sure to get to the ride within the hour window
7. Once you check in, sit back and prepare to have your galactic socks blown off!

 

You can also make virtual line reservations in the park if there are cancellations but there’s are extremely few and far between, so it’s best to make the reservation when you plan your vacation and reserve your park day. If you don't make the first time, try for the second. If the second fills up, don't feel bad. Rise of the Resistance is hard to get into, but not impossible so be persistant!
