Disney World Trams to Return to the Park in 2022: What You Need to Know

Disney World Trams to Return to the Park in 2022: What You Need to Know

Disney World Trams Return For 2022

Orlando’s Disney World may be the happiest place in Florida — and the world — for millions of families, yet getting to the park can quickly put a damper on the fun. Though you might be excited to take advantage of your discount Disney World tickets, finding an open spot amongst the theme park’s massive parking lot can be stressful, especially since visitors must now walk to the entrance ever since it reopened after COVID shutdowns.

Fortunately, there’s good news: the park’s trams are returning!

Trams Provide Exceptional Convenience

Chances are that you and the little ones are incredibly excited to experience all the magic a Disney trip has to offer. However, what you’re not looking forward to is needing to walk nearly five miles around a theme park, especially if you’re visiting the area during one of Orlando’s hotter months.

If you’re visiting with smaller children, this can quickly turn into an issue as they tire out more quickly, causing the experience to be an unpleasant one for everyone involved.

As such, Disney World provides a convenient solution for visitors across its Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and EPCOT areas with its dedicated tram system. Using these, visitors can easily skip the bulk of their long walk by hitching a ride to the park’s entrance, saving them time and energy — all of which can be spent enjoying the destination’s unique attractions.

When Will the Trams Return?

In preparation for a busy holiday season and a new year, Disney World is planning to re-launch its parking lot trams throughout the next few months starting in December. Beginning with Magic Kingdom, guests can use the transport system during their stay, with its other parks expected to enjoy their revival in 2022 — though no specific dates have been announced yet.

Regardless, this news is just another reason for families to start planning their 2022 Orlando Disney trip as the park gears up to welcome visitors throughout the new year.

How to Park at Disney World

Of course, guests will first need to park at Disney World before taking the tram system. You can expect to pay some of the following fees depending on your visitor status:

  • Offsite Guests: $25 per day
  • Passholders: Free with passholder card and photo ID
  • Preferred Parking: $50 per day during peak season / $45 per day during regular season
  • Oversized Vehicle Parking: $30 per day
All parks will require guests to pay at a booth before entering the parking lot, at which point they can find the nearest available spot. To make sure you remember where you left your vehicle, we recommend taking a picture of your lot sign before heading to the park entrance! Different sections are named after Disney characters to help you and the family navigate the area more easily.
