Disney World’s Moana Attraction Coming soon At Epcot!

Back in 2019, Disney announced that it will be opening an all-new attraction inspired by the movie Moana. It was also made clear that this newest attraction will be located at EPCOT and named "Journey of Water." 

According to Disney, this attraction will be the: 

"first-ever experience inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios' hit film."

Where is Moana Attraction Going to be?

There has been a lot of speculation about where exactly Moana attraction will be in the EPCOT. And nothing can be said definitively until it opens up. Some fans are under the impression that it will replace Journey into Imagination, but why they think so is unclear. 

However, we believe that instead of replacing Journey into Imagination, the Moana attraction will most likely replace half of Innoventions West. As part of the EPCOT's central spine redesign, Innoventions West is likely to be demolished. This attraction is also expected to be a part of the World Nature neighborhood. This area will be dedicated to creating awareness about preserving nature and its beauty. It will also house "The Land and The Seas with Nemo & Friends" pavilion. 

Journey of Water: What Does the Moana Attraction At Epcot Promise?

First off, this attraction will be an exploration trail instead of a ride. It will be a "water maze" where guests interact with magical and living water in an awe-inspiring setting. A walk-through environment will be designed in an engaging and educational backdrop where guests will learn about the water cycle and how it is essential for our world!

When is it Opening?

Moana's Journey of Water is one of the projects that were planned to debut for Walt Disney's 50th anniversary. But then Walt Disney's months-long closure stopped those plans in their tracks. Officially, no debut date was announced by Disney World. But we can speculate that Disney World is still aiming for a 2022 summer(or beyond) opening date for Moana's Journey of Water. 

Beyond 2022, we find it hard to predict anything since the previous delays, slower pace of construction, and the constantly evolving EPCOT transformation plans have changed all the older plans previously announced.
