Christmas in Disney World
Christmas in Disney World
If you’re heading to Florida for an Orlando vacation this holiday season, make the most of your trip by visiting the Disney theme parks. Christmas arrives early each year in Disney World, transforming the parks and resorts into a winter wonderland practically overnight. By Thanksgiving, you’ll see Disney Imagineers hard at work staging elaborate holiday decorations throughout the resorts and theme parks. No matter which Orlando hotel you choose or which theme park you visit first, there’s plenty to do to celebrate the Christmas season at Disney World.
Disney World Christmas Highlights:
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party:
The premier Christmas event at Disney World, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a special ticketed event held on select nights during November and December. Guests can enjoy the Magic Kingdom theme park without the typical holiday crowds. The event features a special Christmas parade, festive treats, and even snow on Main Street, USA. Since this event requires a separate ticket for admission, reservations are strongly recommended, especially in the days leading up to the holiday.
Resort Decorations:
Each Disney resort showcases themed Christmas decorations in its lobby and on its grounds. These decorations, which appear almost overnight, are carefully designed to match and enhance the hotel’s decor. For example, the Wilderness Lodge features rustic, woodsy decorations with whimsical bears and other wildlife, while the Grand Floridian dazzles with a life-sized gingerbread house and Victorian-inspired Christmas finery. Consider making dining reservations at a few of the deluxe resorts to experience different Christmas scenery each evening.
The Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights:
Disney’s Hollywood Studios hosts one of the most spectacular Christmas light displays you’ll find anywhere. A whole section of the park is transformed with millions of sparkling lights, and the evening lighting ceremony, complete with occasional snowflakes, is a breathtaking experience. The Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights is included with your park admission, so be sure to visit in the evening to enjoy the show.
