A Challenge to Save Big on My Disney Vacation
What I Look for When I Plan A Vacation
Hello! My name is Shereen from Shereen Travels Cheap. As a budget travel blogger and traveler, I am always looking for a bargain and nothing is better than finding one with less work than usual. OrlandoVacation.comasked me to take their "Orlando Vacation Best Deal Challenge" and I was excited to see if I could beat their prices.
My husband and I love Disney. We are big kids at heart. In four of the last five years we’ve visited a Disney park on all or part of our vacation, including two trips to Walt Disney World. I know better than anyone that hotels and park tickets can really add up and it can take hours of Internet research to find a great package deal. There may be only two of us, but even so, Disney vacations are not cheap.
When planning a trip, I look for two things in an accommodation after price and location. Free breakfast is a major plus if our room doesn’t include a kitchen, and free Wi-Fi is important to me as a blogger. Both of these are perfect for saving money and time.
My Experience With OrlandoVacation.com
When I started browsing the Orlando Vacation site, I was immediately drawn to the Royale Parc Suites. It gets great reviews from guests, is less than 2 miles from the parks, includes a complimentary buffet breakfast, shuttles to Disney, Universal and SeaWorld and wireless Internet in all rooms. I especially enjoy having a separate bedroom, as it means we have enough room to have our own space. After being with someone all day long – no matter how much you love them – you really don’t want to have to be right on top of them in the room or even forced to watch the same show on TV.
OrlandoVacation.com Package Total
After finding my package on OrlandoVacation.com – which included 7 nights at the hotel, 4-day park hopper tickets to Disney parks and 2-day tickets to Universal Studios in mid-March – I hit up my favorite sites for comparisons.
My Orlando Vacation total including tickets is the same as only lodging on some other sites!
Bookit.com Costs $300 More!
BookIt.com always has great sales and the best discounts on Disney tickets that I’ve found anywhere. Though nightly rates were comparable, park tickets were quite a bit more and came in at almost $300 more overall.
Bookit.com had reasonably priced rooms but the tickets made the total cost $300 more than my total at OrlandoVacation.com
Discount Travel Sites Don't Offer Much Of A Discount
Travelocity, Hotels.com, Expedia and other major sites all had double the rates, but even with cheaper park tickets through Disney’s website, the final total still came in at almost $200 more than that on OrlandoVacation.com.
The price for the same room at Royale Parc Suites on Expedia costs over 2X as much as on OrlandoVacation.com
Royale Parc Suites Celebration Cannot Beat OrlandoVacation.com's Nightly Rates
Even Royale Parc Suites couldn’t beat OV’s nightly rates, including online discounts and early bird bookings. Although a couple hundred bucks doesn’t seem like a crazy deal, it’s a significant savings that you can put towards dining out or souvenirs.
Royale Parc Suites Celebration cost 2X as much for lodging as OrlandoVacation.com
My Experience With Orlando Vacation.com, In A Nutshell
I was shocked by the huge difference in prices. I really thought I could find a better deal than they offered, since every other specialty site I’ve been to has “guaranteed” their rates as being the best, but I easily found better prices on the Orlando Vacation site.
Orlando Vacation actually guarantees that you will get the best rates on their site. I challenged this by calling customer service. Rosa Marie answered and explained that if I found a better deal (that wasn’t even exactly the same) that they would match it and there was no time frame on this like other sites impose. OrlandoVacation.com really does offer the best rates and I’ll definitely be using them the next time I travel to Walt Disney World.
