5 Free Things to Do at Disney World

When you think of Disney World it’s likely that “free” isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. However, as you can read in the article 12 free (really!) things to do at Disney World, there really are completely free options at the happiest place on earth. Read on to learn about our favorite five or click on the link for the full story.

1. Fireworks! Fireworks! Fireworks!

Every night of the year, barring major weather issues, you can see fireworks in at least one of the Disney theme parks. Note that Animal Kingdom does not have fireworks, due to the animals they have on property, but Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and the Magic Kingdom have shows almost every night of the year. They’re a great, free way to put a cap on a magical day at the parks.

2. Take a free tour of one of the glamorous Disney resorts

There’s no question that those on a budget are much better off staying in an offsite Orlando resort, or even renting a vacation home, but that doesn’t mean you can’t check out the overpriced resorts on Disney property. In fact, several of them offer free tours. For example, Wilderness Lodge offers the Wonders of the Lodge tour, while Animal Kingdom Lodge offers three free tours, two of which include free tastes of the foods offered at Animal Kingdom Lodge restaurants.

3. Ride the monorail

You might be surprised by how much kids love the monorail! This free transportation system runs between the most deluxe Disney resorts and certain Disney parks. You can hop on at Epcot to get to the Magic Kingdom or ride it around the resort loop to see the exterior of some of the most glamorous resorts on earth.

4. Check out some unique animals

orlandovacation_disney-world-boathouseThere are two resorts you can visit, even though you won’t be spending your kid’s college fund to stay there, and check out their unique animals. Ft. Wilderness has an incredible petting zoo, plus horses and wagon rides. Animal Kingdom Lodge has a special animal viewing area and if you go at night you can even use night vision goggles to see them in their nighttime habitats!

5. Take a relaxing boat ride

There are boats all over property, all of which are free for you to use. You could take a boat from Epcot to Hollywood Studios, or visit Magic Kingdom and then ride a boat to check out the Grand Floridian. Perhaps you want to see what Port Orleans Riverside has to offer, and then take a boat to Downtown Disney (soon to be renamed Disney Springs). Wherever you’re going, a relaxing boat ride can be the perfect way to take a break during your vacation.
