4 Incredible Tips for Single Parents at Disney World

Single parents can have the time of their lives when they take the little ones to Disney World – but they can have unique challenges, too! USA Today created an interesting article called Tips on Visiting Disney World as a Single Parent With Small Children that includes some tips we liked. Take a look and see what you think or take a peek at our convenient summary below.

There’s so much to experience at Disney World that a schedule is a must! Note which rides will be perfect for the kiddos and then create a touring plan that takes advantage of the new FastPass+ system and that takes into account the popularity of rides. Ideally you’d ride the more popular rides earlier in the day, as the waits just get longer the later it gets in the day. If you’re planning any sit down meals, make sure you schedule your meals well in advance and make reservations, as they can fill up quickly!

2. Take advantage of all the services available to you

There are tons of services available for single parents – make sure you’re taking advantage of them! For example, renting a stroller is a great option even if your kids don’t typically use them at home. There’s no question they’re going to get overwhelmed and tired before the day is done. It’s a lot easier to push a sleeping kid in a stroller than to carry them back to the car. There are also babysitting services available that can give you a much needed night off to take in the sites on your own. After all, it’s your vacation too!

You’re going to want to get your money’s worth, and it may initially seem that means spending as much time in the parks as possible. However, the reality is that it’s about quality – not quantity! If everyone is exhausted and cranky, it won’t matter how much time you spend in the parks, it won’t be the best time it could be. On the other hand, if you visit the parks first thing in the morning, head back to your resort or vacation home for a break and a swim, then return to the parks at night, you’ll be able to truly enjoy the experience to the fullest – even if it means taking in fewer rides.

4. Don’t get too stuck on your schedule

This may seem counter intuitive based on the other tips, but it’s important to be flexible. Yes, you should have a plan, yes you should make reservations. But there’s something to be said for getting caught up in the magic and changing the schedule when it makes sense.
