Theme Parks Alternatives for Groups
When someone mentions Orlando, usually the first thing that comes to mind is Disney World. For groups looking to take a day away from the theme parks or are here to enjoy the city, Orlando has more to offer.
Disney Springs
If you purchased our Disney vacation packages or Universal vacation packages, you might have heard about the parks entertainment complexes. Disney Springs is Disney’s outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment complex in which covers over 120 acres. It is located outside of the theme parks in the Lake Buena Vista area. See a show, going bowling, or shop ’til you drop. Reservations are highly recommended for group dining and group entertainment.
Universal Studio’s City Walk
CityWalk is Universal’s version of Disney Springs. You can’t miss City Walk. If you purchased a Universal Studios Package, you have to walk through City Walk to get to the entrance of both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. City Walk restaurants and nightclubs are open nightly until 2 am. View our rates on Universal Studios Packages.
International Drive
International Drive, also known as I-Drive, is another attraction area near the Orange County Convention Center. International Drive is bursting with hotels, dining options, attractions, shopping, nightlife, and recreation. You cannot miss I-Drive these days. Just look for the 400 foot ICON Park: The Wheel attraction or WonderWork’s upside-down indoor edu-tainment building. Both options are popular for youth groups and families. Check out some other smaller theme parks.
The Gulf Beach
Even though Orlando is centrally located within the state of Florida, it is made up mostly of wetlands, lakes, and swamps. But don’t forget the beaches. Taking a day trip to the west coast of Florida to visit Clearwater/Tampa beach area is only a couple of hours away. On the way, you can stop by Legoland or Busch Gardens Tampa.
The East Coast Beach
If you are heading east, Cocoa beach is also the home of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, if you plan your trip right, your group will be able to see many scheduled rocket launches throughout the year.
Other Things To Do
Not only does Orlando have theme parks and entertainment complexes, nothing can beat the beautiful weather. Spend time outside with your group in our state parks. Plan a picnic in your Orlando vacation, take an airboat ride through the swamplands, or go kayaking in lakes and rivers. Orlando is also home to many major sports teams and hosts many sporting events throughout the year. Plan your trip to a city that has more to do and see, besides the theme parks today.
